Delphine MURIAUX (CPBS UMR5236 CNRS UM1/UM2, Montpellier): “Lipids, membrane domains and HIV-1 Gag assembly at the nanoscale level”

We are studying the molecular and cellular mechanisms involved in virus-lipids interactions during viral assembly, using interdisciplinary approaches. The spatio-temporal evolution of lipid-virus assembly in model membranes or living cells (i.e. membrane domain generation by viral proteins or cortical actin dynamic variation upon viral infection) are deciphered. We aim at characterizing the respective roles of viral proteins and host-cell lipids or sub-plasma membrane constituents in the establishment of cooperative nano domains at the plasma membrane during the assembly of enveloped viruses affecting human beings (such as HIV-1 and Influenza A viruses).
