Pr. Pablo GASTAMINZA (Centro Nacional de Biotecnologia CSIC, Madrid – ESPAGNE): “ Virus-host interactions at early stages of hepatitis C virus Infection

Résumé:
HepatitisC virus infection is major biomedicalproblem worldwide. Oneof the hallmarks of the virus is that it establishes persistent infections in cell culture and ininfected patients. Inorder to colonize persistently the infected cell, the virus induces strong structural, metabolic and functional alterations on the host, some of which may contribute to HCV-related pathologies suchas inflammation, steatosis or hepatocellular carcinoma. Our group is focused on understanding Initial aspects of the infection to determine how the persistently infected cells are altered formutual survival of the virus and the host. We will discuss the structural, functional and Biochemical approaches taken in our group to understand how HCV initiates infection
